Evergreen Symphony Orchestra (ESO)
is going to perform ““EVA Air VIP Night – Si-Qing Lu and
the Evergreen Symphony Orchestra” concert at 7:30pm on
April 10 at the National Concert Hall. The group will
be working with internationally renowned violinist Si-Qing
Lu on Rossini’s “Il Barbiere di Sivigli: Overture”, Chen
Gang’s “Sunshine on Taxkorgan”, Dmitri Kabalevsky’s “Violin
Concerto”, Dvorak’s “Symphony no.7”, and many Taiwanese
folk songs - including “Flowers on a Rainy Night” and
“Peach Blossom Takes the Ferry.”
The performance will be Lu’s first in Taiwan. The award-winning
violinist will collaborate with the ESO on Chen Gang’s
“Sunshine on Taxkorgan”, a fantasy composed for traditional
Chinese instruments that evokes the western Chinese wilderness.
Performing the number on violin is highly challenging.
Lu will also present Dmitri Kabalevsky’s “Violin Concerto”,
a technically demanding composition that is rarely performed
in Taiwan. Lovers of classical music will not want to
miss this great opportunity to hear Lu perform these brilliant
pieces.
In the first half of the concert, the ESO will also perform
Rossini’s “Il Barbiere di Sivigli: Overture” and a medley
of Taiwanese folk songs. In the second half of the concert,
the orchestra will present Czech composer Dvorak’s “Symphony
no.7”, a beautiful, Bohemian number passionately acclaimed
by the German composer Brahms.
